Everyone just calls her Newt, but in formal situations she goes by Adelina.

Unaccustomed to adventure of any kind, she had adventure thrust upon her as she and her parents were visiting Cypress Hill, a trading post catering to the local fishermen. The trading post was attacked by the Deathwalkers and Newt was separated from her parents. A short time later (it seemed much, much longer) Newt is rescued and joins her rescuers in turn as they try to rescue her parents.

Newt tries to find her place in the team but inexperience and dislike of fighting make this challenging. She remains remarkably upbeat (despite all that has transpired)–unless, that is, certain matters she considers to be private are broached.
